My journey from Bukalasa Agricultural College started with a passion for agriculture. Joining the Agro Innovators Club in 2019, and participating in the Roots Africa Changemakers program in 2020, where we embarked on sustainable projects, aiming to benefit both students and our community.
Roots Africa Inc. came to Bukalasa Agricultural College in Ugada with the Roots Africa Changemakers program, empowering us to work directly with farmers. With the training and support from the Roots Africa Team and my Mentors Terry Gregoire, and Dave Pearce, I led projects that transformed from cultivation/production methods to improving incomes for farmers.
This experience inspired me to start my venture. Alongside my friends and fellow changemakers Morris and Dennis, we worked on our dream.
At the start of the 2023 farming season, Roots Africa yet again initiated a soybean project, aligning perfectly with our goals. Securing college land, Morris and I made this dream a reality.
Our project caught the eye of a gentleman from Sweden, opening doors for us to work and study in Sweden. Special thanks to Roots Africa and our mentors for guiding us on this journey.
Special thanks to Roots Africa Inc, Mr Galiwango Samual Registrar of Bukalasa Agricultural College, Kisolo Galvan Lule principal of Bukalasa Agricultural College, Madam Sharon Apio, and Mr. Cedric Nwafor, Executive Director, Roots Africa Inc., for their guidance and support through the years and for bringing the Roots Africa Changemakers program to us in Uganda.Â
